Biography
Seringai is one of the main players in Indonesia’s rock/metal scene nowadays. Influenced by the darkness of Black Sabbath, the velocity of Motorhead and Black Flag’s hardcore punk recklessness,
Seringai combine those essential ingredients to form high octane rock music that guarantees moshpit fun, with lyrics that intelligently tackle social-political issues and celebrate the simple pleasures of getting wasted.
Formed in 2002 by vocalist Arian 13, guitarist Ricky Siahaan, drummer Edy Khemod and bassist Sammy Bramantyo, Seringai released its debut mini-album ‘High Octane Rock’ in 2004, followed by 2007’s fulllength ‘Serigala Militia’ which featured adrenaline-inducing anthems such as “Mengadili Persepsi (Bermain Tuhan)” and “Berhenti di 15”.
Their sophomore effort, ‘Taring’ (2012), served up more breakneck crowd favorites such as “Dilarang di Bandung” and “Tragedi”. Though their recordings have received much acclaim, at the end of the day Seringai is a live band, equally at home crushing small stages in intimate clubs or driving thousands of moshers into a frenzy festivals (national and regional scenes).
No wonder they were the only Indonesian metal band invited to open for Metallica’s 2013 concert in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta. Playing in front of 60.000 metal fans, the band performance was a
huge success.
Recently, they have released their latest full legth CD, ‘Seperti Api’, which received many accolades and won the AMI Awards 2018 (Indonesian Grammy) for Best Metal / Hardcore category.
